The North Bend Public Library wants to help nonprofit organizations in these trying financial times. From July 27-31, the library will hold Nonprofit Week, featuring classes for nonprofits and grant writers.

Folk society will host songfest
The South Coast Folk Society summer song-fests will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 12, in downtown Coos Bay. The public is welcome to join society members singing popular, contemporary and classic songs. Admission is free and all ages and voices are welcome.

Beachcombers celebrate birthday
The Beachcombers Square Dance Club of Port Orford will host a 57th birthday celebration today, Saturday and Sunday. The celebration will kick off with a casual square dance today, and activities will continue Saturday with a float in the local parade, a demo at Battle Rock Park and a Plus workshop that afternoon.

Girls Night Out will be Tuesday
The Coquille-Myrtle Point After-5 Club will host a Girls Night Out with “True Yarns and Twin Needles,” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Frazier’s Banquet Room, 23 East First, Coquille. Dessert or mini chef salad will be served for $7.50.

A graveside committal will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 63060 Millington Frontage Road, Coos Bay. Viewing will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. Monday, July 6, as well as following the service at Coos Bay Chapel.
