A Coos Bay man convicted of three first-degree rape charges will serve more than 16 years in prison for the crimes.

Coos County Circuit Judge Martin Stone sentenced Thomas H. Wilson, 34, on Friday morning.

First-degree rape is covered by the Measure 11 mandatory sentencing law, which requires eight years and four months for each count. Though Stone issued the mandatory sentences, Wilson will serve time on two of the charges at the same time, Coos County District Attorney R. Paul Frasier said.

“I argued for them to run consecutively, but Judge Stone gave him one concurrent,” Frasier said.

Jurors found Wilson guilty Wednesday, following a two-day trial presided over by Stone. One count stems from the rape of a teenage acquaintance in 1999 on “property associated with Mr. Wilson” on South Coos River Lane, according to a press release from the district attorney’s office. The other two counts are associated with two incidents in 2003, in which he raped a second 16-year-old on the same property.

The jury found Wilson not guilty of two additional counts of first-degree rape related to the second victim.
