COQUILLE - Lincoln Elementary School students ended the year with fistfulls of money. OK, not quite. But they did raise a grand total of $1,046.35 in their annual Mini Relay for Life.
Students raised money for two weeks and were rewarded with a fun field day June 5, a press release said. The top fundraising students were: third-grader Rhiannon McKinley, $384; first-grader Mariah Jarrett, $128 and third-grader Grady Hampel, $77.
The mini-relay sent kids playing on Jump 4 Fun inflatables, competing in relays and walking or running laps around the field. At the end of the afternoon, all students received popsicles. Each top fundraisers received a new MP3 player.
Danielle McKinley coordinated the event with help from the Coquille PTK, Coquille Education Association, Superintendent Diann Gillaspie and Principal Julie Entz.
The money the students raised goes to the American Cancer Society's South Coos County Relay for Life. |
