Rally spotlights LNG debate, legislation

SALEM (AP) — John Kroger, Oregon's new attorney general, has taken a hard line against proposed liquefied natural gas terminals and pipelines.
At a Capitol rally Tuesday, he said they were bad for landowners, the environment and energy independence.
A number of state lawmakers were at the rally, including Rep. Deborah Boone of Cannon Beach, who says she's having a bill drafted to give the state more power over LNG siting.
An Oregon alliance of business and labor groups that favors building the pipeline and terminals held its own press conference earlier.
Energy Action Northwest argues that job creation is one of many reasons Oregonians should support the plan.
