WINSTON (AP) — A $300 million resort that includes an 18-hole golf course has won preliminary approval from the town planning commission in Winston, near Roseburg.

The proposed Brockway Resort Golf and River Club is to be built in three phases on 262 acres on the western edge of town.

The plan by California-based Resort Towns Inc. calls for 392 condominiums, townhouses and homes rooted between plazas, galleries and artisan studios.

Other plans call for a clubhouse, restaurant, retail stores, a 116-room hotel and a renovation of the historic Brockway Store into a farmers market.

The developer says it will be accessible by a pedestrian and bicycle-friendly street system with more than 500 underground parking spaces.
