It amazes me at the number of authorities on Wasilla and Sarah Palin there are. I’m no authority, but I’d like to give you a few facts about both, as I know them.

I lived in Wasilla for more than 20 years, we do have paved roads and we don’t live in igloos. Wasilla has two large lakes within its city limits, large enough to land float planes on, water ski, fish and boat on. Most of the residents in the city limits live on or around these lakes.

Wasilla has its public schools, a new Catholic school, its own airport, hospital, pool, hockey rink, Ford and Chevy dealerships, Fred Meyer, Safeway, second Wal-Mart, Lowes, D&A Market, four motels and lodges, one hotel, a Burger King, McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Dairy Queen, several privately owned cafes, bars and lounges, a VFW hall, American Legion, Am Vets and an 18-hole golf course just out of town. It also has a four-lane freeway through town with clover leafs at important intersections and frontage roads along it for businesses.

It has its own police force in part to Sarah Palin who initiated the idea of a 3 percent sales tax to fund it, after the county sheriff said they could no longer answer calls and protect the citizens. That was while she was on the city council. Later, as mayor, she fired the police chief for not doing his job, and saw to it that the officers were out on the streets and not sitting in a cafe drinking coffee all day.

Did I vote for her?

No, I lived one mile from the city center, but not in the city limits, so I couldn’t vote for her.

As governor, I haven’t seen any other governor send each man, woman and child $1,200 because the state has a budget surplus, most see how fast they can spend it and ask for more. I was glad to see some attention being drawn to the “Good Old Boys” Murkowski, Stevens and Young, they have had things their way too long.

Just because someone puts their view on the Internet or in papers doesn’t mean it’s fact. I can’t help but wonder if some of the women who are so hateful to Sarah are so because they have had abortions and she makes them feel guilty and ashamed.
