Tuesday, August 19, 2008 10:52 AM PDT
A woman was injured Saturday when her kayak capsized on the Rouge River east of Gold Beach.
The unidentified woman’s kayak became hung up on a rock in Tacoma Rapids, approximately five miles up river from the Foster Bar boat ramp. She was pinned between her kayak and a rock for 30 to 45 minutes, before another boater helped get her free, a Curry County Sheriff’s Office press release said.
Deputies responded at about 1:10 p.m. and located the woman with the rest of her party near Clay Hill Lodge. The woman was wearing a life jacket and was pinned with her torso out of the water and only received injuries to one of her legs. She appeared shaken by the incident, but declined medical treatment and transport, police said. |
