Schools ask for donations

Reedsport
The Family Resource Center in Reedsport is launching its annual drive for school supplies. Needed supplies include: crayons, pencils, notebook paper, blue/black/red pens, three-ring binders, neat books, colored markers, subject dividers, white glue, glue sticks, zip pouches, pencil boxes, scissors, rulers, erasers, tissues, folders and pencil sharpeners.
Donations can be brought to the Family Resource Center, where they will be sorted and delivered to the schools. Cash donations also are accepted at the center, 5 St. John’s Way, off Ranch Road behind the Lower Umpqua Hospital.
Coos Bay
Coos Bay School District is asking the community to donate backpacks and school supplies. Hygiene products needed include: toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, bar soap, shampoo, cream rinse, nail clippers, brush and comb. Other needs include sweatpants and underwear for young students.
Tax-deductible donations also are being accepted. Checks need to be made out to Coos Bay School District (write Operation Backpack on the memo line). Donated items can be delivered to the district office at 1255 Hemlock Ave. in Coos Bay, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
