Man dies after he jumped from Portland bridge for fun

PORTLAND — A man was killed when he jumped off the Hawthorne Bridge in downtown Portland.
The accident happened shortly after midnight Friday when a group was jumping off the bridge into the Willamette River and swimming to shore for fun.
Fire officials say they found the man’s body about 12:30 a.m. Friday in about 20 feet of water.
The victim was identified as Clinton Covault, 26. He had no known address.
