Americans need to investigate Obama

Do you believe the American people need to know all the facts about the people they elect to the presidency?

One fact that needs investigating is the fact that Barack Obama is the least investigated, researched and studied, the least known candidate in our history. When asked about his record when he was an Illinois senator he said — In the senate, every document, every piece of information related to government is kept by the state and has been disclosed and is available right now. Yet the state responded to the inquiries saying they do not maintain these records nor have they received requests from Obama to archive his record.

Not much transparency here.

We do know that Tony Rezko a Syrian living in Chicago has been the political Godfather to Obama and has bank rolled his political career since 1996. We do know that two months after Obama took his Senate seat, he purchased $50,000 in stock of a risky nature, in companies owned by his biggest campaign contributors and we do know that one of these, a biotech concern, benefited from legislation Obama pushed just two weeks after he purchased $5,000 worth of stock.

We do know about his connection to William Ayers and his wife, both radicals, who don’t regret bombing the Pentagon, police stations and 23 other places and wishes they had done more. This man is now teaching in a college and he and Obama were on a board of the Woods Foundation that gave $7,500 to the Arab-American Action Network. Apparently Ayers’ terrorist past does not bother Obama anymore than his pastor Wright’s anti-American rantings that he chose to listen to for 20 years.

Most of the news media is willing to give Obama a pass, but I don’t think anyone should be elected to our highest office without a thorough investigation.

You drank the kool-aid and are passing it on to others. Using buzz words like "far-left-winger" "liberal", "values", or accusations of the MSM "hiding" the real Obama doesn't demonstrate anything other than irrational fear. People who choose to ignore policies proffered by the candidates and instead cling to inuendo, bias, and lies, especially like the BS sent around on the internet, have capitulated to the terrorists. No one could blame you for finding other reasons to vote for someone other than Oprah, People magazine, or MSNBC. But don't join the internet-fueled mob carrying torches and sticks. To Inform You:

- Katrina (and other hurricanes had/have little lasting affect on oil prices, while supply and demand (from rising nations), and political instability are more pertinent.

- I believe that you are right about the banking industry, though you failed to mention that many of the worst offenders were loan companies that shouldn't have approved (or offered) those loans and subsequently sold them to other institutions.

- "Brownie" will never be put in charge of Health Care (and neither will the GOP after they are put out of office)

- Saying that "refusing the vote for drilling" is trampling the constitution is a bit ridiculous, isn't it? I must have missed reading that part of the document.

If the only source of "information" someone gets is from liberal sources, I can see why you need answers to your questions about the economy:

-The gas prices were predicted to hit $4. per gallon in 2005 When Katrina forced operators to close more than a tenth of the country's refining capacity and a quarter of its oil production, which sent gasoline prices surging.

-The bank and forclosure business is due to people not living within thier means. The banks were WRONG to loan money on extremely LARGE homes to people that couldn't afford them!

-If you haven't noticed it is not just HEALTH insurance premiums that have risen, it is ALL insurance! As far as Universal Health Care, would you rely on the folks that took care of Katrina to provide your medical care?

-Nancy Pelosi definantly trampled the Constition when she refused the vote for drilling before her book tour and summer vacation started!

With all of the excitement about Obama, it seems the country is ready for a change. What type of change will the very liberal Obama and a liberal Congress bring to America? To answer this question you could simply look at an area of the United States where liberals like Obama and Nancy Pelosi (a San Francisco Liberal) have complete control of government.

A perfect example is San Francisco. This city doesn’t allow citizens to possess usable firearms. The excuse that this prevents “gun violence” is hypocritical in light of the fact that they actively harbor criminals from across the border.

San Francisco’s city council abhors the U.S. military. They say that the military should be disbanded. While Obama may not be this extreme, he has actively demonstrated his disdain for the military.

Obama and his liberal counterparts would undoubtedly like to “change” America by liberalizing it as the liberals in San Francisco have done. Obama was rated the most liberal senator in the United States Senate in 2007 so I don’t think its an exaggeration to say: “If you want an America, that looks like San Francisco then vote for Obama in 2008.”

Can't we just read what "McCain Sez" in the main part of the paper without seeing it repeated in your posts? Do you have any original thoughts to contribute?

But while you're here, I should point out...

The Surge was initiated as a strategy to reduce violence in Iraq (succussful) in order to allow political reconciliation between Iraq's political interests (largely unrealized to this point). The surge, along with the Sunni uprising (which started 6 months before), the standdown by Shia militias (negotiated between Iran, Maliki, and Al Sadr), and coming near the tail-end of ethnic cleansing of neighborhoods in Baghdad, all contributed to the lessening of violence.

Yes, the surge helped. But we're still not putting up the fight we need to against the real enemy in Afghanistan.

Buying Less Violence wrote on Jul 24, 2008 9:57 AM:

The Bush regime is paying Sunni insurgents $800,000 a day not to attack U.S. forces. That's right, 80,000 members of an "Awakening group," the "Sons of Iraq," a newly formed "U.S.-allied security force" consisting of Sunni insurgents, are being paid $10 a day each not to attack U.S. troops.

I don't think the "surge" had anything to do with the decline in violence.

And yet...

a) the Iraqi Prime Minister says that the 16-month timeframe offered by Obama seems reasonable and further states that whoever offers a shorter timeline would be most favored.
b) The Iraq foreign minister says that all US forces should leave by the end of 2010.
c) Polls of Iraqi lawmakers show greater support for US leaving.
d) Polls of the Iraqi people show overwhelming support for US leaving

More important than any of this is the fact that the Iraq occupation has stretched our military where we can't supply enough troops to fight the war against those who attacked (and helped attack) us on 9/11. They are safe in Afghanistan.

The US military will still be in Iraq in support roles. But after 5 years of fighting in the wrong country, shouldn't we start fighting the real enemy?

It is by applying the tried and true principles of counter-insurgency used in the surge — which Senator Obama opposed — that we will win in Afghanistan.

With the right strategy and the right forces, we can succeed in both Iraq and Afghanistan. I know how to win wars.

And if I’m elected President, I will turn around the war in Afghanistan, just as we have turned around the war in Iraq, with a comprehensive strategy for victory."-John McCain

That isn't analysis, that is simply a recognition of the fact that the Iraqi Defense Force currently conducts very little in the way of logistical operations. The priority has been to build up the IDF so that it can handle the fighting first (so that fewer American troops are in harm's way), and then get them up and running on logistics. That is ongoing. It is not complete. It is not halfway complete. That cannot be countered with facts. The Iraqis are incapable of operating nationwide without the U.S. military.

According to the state laws in Hawaii (12/24/52-11/13/86) which were in effect at the time of Obama’s birth, a child must be born to “TWO” U.S. Citizen parents, which means it applies to Barack’s birth.
Only Barack’s mom was a U.S. Citizen. Obamba Sr. was a citizen of Kenya.
Hawaiian law stipulates:
"…If only one parent was a U.S. Citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least FIVE of which had to be after the age of 16.”
It appears that Obama’s mother was only 18 when Obambi was born, which means she was shy of the 21 years of age required by the law.

If you are in the business of association, maybe you should check into the senior Bush who met with the bin Laden family at least twice, or Gee Dubya's association and his own businesses that are linked to the Saudis who support bin Laden!

Your scare tactics don't work, and if they played the Rev Wright video 80,000,000 times on the news, they certainly would have had a field day on this IF IT WERE TRUE which it is not! Please learn how to celebrate diversity.

I cannot say that I agree with the notion that he has not been investigated, I can and will say though that I feel that because of the last eight years of hell that Shrub has subjected us to, that anyone who is hungry for change will vote for whomever is speaking of it. I think the information that is public and has been know about Obama is not enough for people to just go with. They are so hungry for change that they will crawl through the desert and when they see a mirage, they will eat it dispite the reality of what it really is and when it is too late they will know. I don't feel that either candidate is being forward with us currently. They know what our weakness is and they are preying upon that weakness. This is the time for us to be strong and think about writting in someone. This election is important folks, lets not blow this one!

I am ashamed of your post.. Its a sad day when a Oregonian can write this kind of smut, and get away with it.. a troll under the bridge (Coose Bay Bridge) and with luck you might be swept out to sea with the next high tide..
Change is coming, and you will see, Obama and this nation will bring us back to where we belong.. there is no place like home (America)

Yes We Can..

It's obvious why you wrote this. You give us Republicans a bad name.

I dare you to read "Dreams From My Father" and "The Audacity of Hope". These books are also available as audio CDs. Guaranteed to cure your dark, ignorant, even sick, mind.

Obama has been the most investigated candidate in this election cycle. Half of the "information" in this letter is BS and the other half is exaggeration. This looks like a letter that could have been written a year ago.

His votes in Illinois, just as in the U.S. Senate, are public record.

All of these lies have been hashed and rehashed over and over again in the media. It's McCain and his numerous mistakes that have been given a pass by the mainstream media. We have real problems in this country that need to be addressed and that is what we need to talk about - not smears and gossip. Let's get serious people.
