CoastWatch is hosting a free guided walk at Sunset Beach and a chance to explore the Charleston Boat Docks with Dr. Jeff Goddard and Dr. Stewart Schultz at noon on Friday, July 11.  The walk will begin at the north boat ramp at Sunset Bay State Park.

Schultz, author of “The Northwest Coast: A Natural History,” has worked on rare coastal plants and old growth forests.

Goddard, a research biologist with the Marine Science Institute at the University of California at Santa Barbara, studies sea slugs.   Both have spent many summers exploring the natural history of the Oregon Coast.

Information about CoastWatch’s Adopt-a-Mile Program also will be presented, and people interested in joining CoastWatch are encouraged to attend.
