Guild meetingThe next meting of the Oregon Coast High School of the Arts to develop The Guild after school enrichment program will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Oregon Coast School of Music, 2060 Sherman Ave., North Bend. Ida Jo Gates, director of the Oregon Coast School of Music has proposed this facility as a site for The Guild.
Volunteers are needed. Organizers are open to collaboration with community partners and existing programs and hope to bring people on board now who will help design future activities they would be interested in leading or mentoring.

WednesdayWrangling creaturersReptiles and bugs, along with creature wrangler, Mary Esther Hart, will help children “Catch the Reading Bug” at the third Summer Reading program for school-aged children starting at 1 p.m., Wednesday at the Flora M. Laird Memorial Library, 435 Fifth St., Myrtle Point.

Garden partyCoos Bay Garden Club members will gather for their annual picnic at noon Wednesday at the home of Herb and Betsie Kinney.
Members will make the final plans for the upcoming public Garden Tour on Aug. 2.

Finding resourcesA Southern Oregon Coast Housing Opportunities Provider public orientation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Port Orford City Hall.
SOC-HOP is a branch office of Umpqua Community Development Corp., a nonprofit organization that utilizes funding from Oregon Housing & Community Services to provide free housing counseling to the residents of Coos and Curry counties.
Attendees will learn about all of the services and programs that the SOC-HOP office provides such as no-cost private budget, credit, homeownership counseling; funds for down payment assistance; 0 percent interest with deferred payment home repair loan program; and grant money for small business development or home purchases.
The meeting is part of a series of orientations to be held around Coos and Curry counties through out the next six months.

Amvets to meetAmvets Post 10 will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Eagles lodge, 562 S. Second St., Coos Bay. All members are invited to attend and bring a new member.
Topics to be discuss includ the fireworks stand and the trip to Roseburg V.A. later in the month.
ThursdayWork connectionWorkNet is moving to Thursdays. The next one will be held from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m., Thursday at Star of Hope located at 657 Newmark Ave., Coos Bay.
WorkNet is a live
forum where employers share current job openings as well as how to apply for employment. Job see-kers make a brief presentation of their job skills and work history.
Doors open at 7 a.m. Hot coffee will be served. The South Coast Business Employment Corporation facilitates the WorkNet program.
The pre-WorkNet workshop for job seekers will continue to be from 10 to 11 a.m. on the first Wednesday of each month at South Coast Business Em-ployment Corporation.

Reserving lunchThe July “Let’s Do Lunch” will be from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Red Lion Hotel, 1313 N. Bayshore Drive, Coos Bay. The luncheon and program cost $12.
Former nurse Janna Clifford of Cottage Grove will share her story of love and relationships.
Volney Facto of Coquille will share how to grow herbs for cooking, crafts and home remedies.

FridayChurch tourThe Coquille Valley Gene-alogy Club will meet at 11 a.m. Friday at the Flora M. Laird Memorial Library, 435 Fifth St., Myrtle Point, and carpool to the Catching Creek Cemetery and tour the old, historic church there.
Participants should bring a sack lunch, beverage and folding chair. Martin Marsters will talk about the early history of the area.
Relay for a cureThe South Coos County Relay for Life will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday at the Coquille High School.
