These felony cases are on the Coos County Circuit Court docket. The list reflects preliminary information from the court, not guilt or conviction.

Friday

Joshua D. Pratt — Hearing for pre-trial release on charges including first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse.

Russell L. Shelnutt — Plea hearing on a charge of second-degree assault.

James S. Spear — Hearing for pre-trial release on a charge of failure to register as a misdemeanor sex offender.

Denice S. J. Farmer — Twelve-person jury trial on charges including three counts of identity theft, two counts of first-degree theft and giving false information to police on citation.

A misdemeanor sexual offense is subjecting another person to sexual contact without his/her consent or having sexual contact with one who is deemed by the law to be incapable of consent by reason of being under 18 years of age. I believe this was formerly known as statutory rape.
